Stirred Up To Seek God
It is not enough to just know about God. He must be sought if He is to be found. Just the desire to know and seek Him is the result of His Spirit working in the life to draw out the believer's heart, creating a thirst to meet God, or rather to be met by Him. The great encouragement to seek God comes with the assurance that one can indeed find and know Him.
The Practice Of Waiting On God
What does it mean to wait on God? Is it a haphazard event, or is there an order to it which is sure and certain?
The Anointing, God's Answer To The Impossible
Wha is God's provision for His will to be done on earth, especially in the face of an enemy who wills the destruction of all that would oppose him? It is the anointing by the Spirit. Paul wrote that the testimony of truly belonging to Christ is the fact that Christ is in the believer by the Spirit of God. That indwelling by the Spirit is God's provision for His power to overcome.
Speaking To The Wind
The way of God is speaking a word. He speaks and worlds are created. He speaks and the dead in sin come to the new birth, to live by the Spirit of Christ. His word is the expression and extension, and the revelation of His character, His nature. John the Apostle put it like this: "The Word was made flesh and dwelt among us." He goes on to say, speaking of the Lord Jesus: "We beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth."
On Earth As In Heaven
The difference between the heavenly and that which is of this earth is as different, and distant as the heavens are above the earth. When considering the nature of God as compared with that of sinful man, we begin to grasp something of this difference. God's call to sinful man, saved and believing, is to seek those things He has provided for him in Christ, so as to in one sense, to bring heaven down to earth, that men might "taste and see that the Lord is good."
Heaven's Living Bread
What is living bread, except that it possesses life, true life. When Jesus spoke of Himself being the bread come down out of heaven, He spoke of His Life. When He spoke of partaking of that bread, He spoke of partaking of His Life, a Life that was eternal and unchanging.
Abounding Saving And Sanctifying Grace
The depth of the need of the heart of man in a lost world is beyond the capacity of man to even make a dent to remedy it. It is because of this need, which must be met, if man would be delivered from the effects of sin and death, that the Lord Jesus revealed the power of God to deal with it all, confirmed to us by the resurrection from the dead. Christ, in essence, reached down to the greatest depth of the need of man, to lift him up to live, by the cleansing of his sin, and the empowering of the Spirit.
When Peace Is Not An Option
It is the will of God that we have peace with God, by faith. It is the will of God that we leave peaceably with all men, in the measure that it is possible. It is certainly the will of God that we have peace among the brethren in the body of Christ. But there are times when peace is not an option.
The Preparation for Christ's Return
What does it mean to be prepared for Christ's coming? In studying how the Lord used John the Baptist, to prepare the way of the Lord, we can understand what the Lord desires the attitude of our hearts to be. He is willing to come, if we are prepared to receive Him.
The Living Stone And The Living Stones
Scripture tells us that the Lord Jesus Christ is the Living Stone. Then it tells us that the every believer is a living stone, and together living stones. How can this be? The blessed life of Christ, by the Spirit, is in the believer to be in the world in some small measure what Christ was. He was a rock, unchanging, that brought stability, upon which a life could be built. We are those whom He puts together in His church, or body, so that the testimony of His life in the church will be a great force and power for good, and the salvation of many.
