I know I need to point out positives. I’m looking…

Mom and Dad, I’ve been there. We find ourselves wanting to point out our son or daughter’s positive actions, but there just aren’t any. We sit back and hear ourselves correct, rebuke, and sometimes yell at the offending child as they push one button after another. Then, all of a sudden, they cross the line—and you do, too. Your volume goes up, then the words start coming out, and now you’re in a position where you’re breaking your son or daughter’s will and spirit, not training them. Helpful hint: get them doing something so you CAN praise them. Maybe they can help you pick up a room, or dry dishes, sweep a floor—something where you can say, “Good job.” Encouraging words will help you both.
