I wish I had asked my kids this question more often when they were growing up. Some of my kids were readers. Others not so much. When it came to studying for tests, the difference between reading notes and studying or memorizing is a huge difference. It’s the same for studying the Bible. As a family, are we just reading, or are we studying? Let me encourage you to do a couple of things. First, if you’re not having devotions with your family, start. When you have devos don’t just read through it, stop. Ask questions. Be sure to read ALL the scripture that goes with it. Then ask, “What’s your verse? Why? What does it say? How can you apply it? Then, encourage them to memorize it.
