They're addicted to their phone.

Is it an addiction, or an idol? An idol is anything we love more than God. It could be a phone, but it could also be a hobby, work, or even a person. When our grown kids have a phone addiction how should we handle it? As parents and grandparents we can sometimes get away with suggesting that we put a basket in the middle of the table and tell them phones go there during dinner, or while they’re in the house. Emphasize that you need to their attention. If you get push-back, don’t get your feathers all ruffled; roll with it. If it's a son or daughter who’s the offender, pull them aside and lovingly say you need their attention. Time is precious. After all, nobody knows how long we have together.
