I remember hearing a story of an Israeli soldier who was stationed on a key defensive line in the Golan Heights. Asked by a reporter whether he ever got discouraged knowing the danger he faced, he responded, “No, we can’t afford to get discouraged here.” We moms and dads are the spiritual defenders of our families. If we allow ourselves to fall into the black hole of discouragement, we can be teaching our kids something terrible: lack of faith. 1 Peter 5:7 says, “Casting all your cares upon Him, for He cares for you” (NKJV). We need to keep our eyes on God who, though He knows everything, never gets discouraged. He wrote the Book, remember? So, parents, recharge your spiritual batteries with time in God’s Word and in prayer. As you do, you’ll be an amazing example to your kids.
Are you discouraged?
