The BIG Picture

Barbara Sandbek concludes this series with a personal assessment of why trials occur and how God uses them to help us ‘work out’ our salvation. We’ll see the benefits we can receive as we allow ourselves to be clay in the Potter’s hands.

Character construction - part 5

Barbara Sandbek has been describing the qualities listed in 2 Peter 1:5-7 that God wants us to incorporate into our lives. We’ve seen how faith, virtue, knowledge, self-control, and patience can work together to form a ‘Christ-like’ character in us. On this program, Barbara will center on the next trait – Godliness. Why not get out your notepad – you’ll want to remember the Scriptures she shares.

What Makes a Good Father?

A father’s job is to GUIDE his children into what God has for THEM to do, not do it for them. In other words, he should be their coach, and teach THEM how to win. Today on Grace Notes, our host Barbara Sandbek will share some thoughts on what it takes to be a good father.

Character Construction Underway - part 4

We hope you’ve been enjoying our series entitled, ‘Why trials’. Barbara Sandbek has been talking about how trials build in us the character traits listed in 1 Peter 1:5-7. We found that faith, coupled with virtue, knowledge, and self-control, create in us a deeper love for God and others. On this program, Barbara will explain the attribute of patience, in a little different light, and share another one of her experiences.

Character Construction Underway - part 3

God created man in His image and likeness. His likeness is His Glory or His character. Because of sin, we’ve lost our glory, but once we receive Christ into our lives by faith, Romans 8:29 says that God works to conform us into the likeness of His Son – and give us back the glory we’ve lost. On this Grace Notes program, Barbara Sandbek will explain how God works His character trait of self-control in us as she shares some of her own experiences.

Character Construction Underway - part 2

On our last program, Barbara Sandbek showed us that trials are necessary in building our character. She read a list of qualities in 2 Peter 1:5-7 that God desires to incorporate into our personality. Let’s hear it again. It says… Make every effort to add to your faith, goodness, and to goodness, knowledge, and to knowledge, self-control, and to self-control, perseverance(or patience), and to perseverance, Godliness, and to Godliness, brotherly kindness, and to brotherly kindness, love. We learned that none of these can exist without faith because faith is the foundation. Faith comes by hearing the truth of the Word of God and believing in Christ. On this program, Barbara will explain how these qualities work together in the character building process.

Character Construction Underway - part 1

God disciplines both to train and to chastise us. He does this because we are His children…He loves us…and wants to conform us into the likeness of His Son, Jesus. We learned that God often uses consequences to help us ‘come clean’ from the sin in our lives. On this program, we’ll take a look at the qualities God wants to mold into our character.

A Tribute to Mothers and Grandmothers

Pictures…what would we do without them? They capture the beauty of the moment and help us relive memories of times that will never occur like that again. Other people can't appreciate them like we do - we have them painted in our minds. When we think of ‘MOTHER’, we recall vivid pictures of her doting over us in loving ways. On this Grace Notes program, Barbara Sandbek will pay tribute to the moms and grandmoms who mold the character of their children and grandchildren.

Why do WE have to Suffer?

On our last program, we learned about some of the benefits we receive as a result of Christ’s sacrifice: forgiveness, freedom from condemnation, and fellowship with God. Because Christ suffered for us, He can identify with us…and we can identify with Him. On this Grace Notes program, Barbara Sandbek will begin to explore the reasons why we must endure suffering.

The Benefits of Christ's Suffering

It’s incredible to think of what God did to redeem us. The infinite God of the universe became a finite man in the person of His Son, Jesus. Containing Himself in human flesh alone was a sacrifice, yet Jesus came to earth and lived in poverty, to show us the Father, and to pay the incredible price for our sin. On this Grace Notes program, Barbara Sandbek continues her series ‘Why Trials?’ as she talks about the benefits we receive because of Christ’s suffering.
