Walking Before God Almighty
What is it to walk before God Almighty? It is first to have a vision of Him, high and lifted up, gloriously holy. At the same time, it means seeing the Lord Jesus crucified on the cross, bearing all the just and righteous penalty for our sins. And then it is to know that all the power and goodness of God is provided the believer in Christ to live by faith, faith in the faithfulness of God.
The Divine Story
One thing that makes the story of Christ, His birth, ministry, death and resurrection, so very unique, but principally divine, is the fact that it is without measure in its goodness. The goodness, and holiness of God permeate every aspect of His coming to save us by the sacrifice of Himself. Why would He do such a thing? It is because He, the Father, and the Holy Spirit are love. God could do no other, for His love moved Him to do the unthinkable, immeasurable, and the incomprehensible. This is truly the divine story, which is good news for fallen man.
The Cry Of The Heart
The sincere cry of the heart to God is always heard by God. As Jesus one day was in the midst of a multitude of people, he heard the voice of such a cry from a blind beggar. He would stop and call for him. Why? It was because the cry was the honest, sincere appeal to the mercy of the Almighty God, the One who had sent Jesus to save. This is the cry which He hears, and answers.
Doers Of The Word
True faith is proved by obeying Christ, according to the word of God. Why? True faith is one where the power of God is operating in and through the life. When one obeys Christ, he is strengthened by the Spirit to do so. It is the Spirit of God who works in him both the willing and the doing of God's good pleasure.
Christ Lover Of Our Souls
What does it mean to be loved by God? One can only begin to grasp the blessedness of this truth by looking to God. Only in Christ can we see, and grasp something of this love. Why? First of all, it passes understanding. One cannot grasp it fully, for the blessedness of it has not but in a small measure entered into the heart of man. Only by the Spirit of revelation in the knowledge of Christ, and the strengthening by the Spirit, can one know Christ, and His love.
A Vessel Unto Honor
What is it to be a vessel unto honor? Is it not one that brings glory to God, honor to Him, one who is faithful unto God. He may not be perfect in communion with God, nor walking before God without fault, but he is one who rushes to the fountain for uncleanness, to be daily washed, but also looking heavenward for the fulness of the promise of the Spirit, renewed, refreshed, revived again and again, quickened to love Christ and serve Him supremely.
Ye Have Not Because Ye Ask Not
There are two great causes of failure with regard to prayer. The first one is simply not praying. The Lord Jesus told His disciples that if one did not pray, they would certainly faint, for prayer is key to faith. The second failure is that of not praying according to the will of God, leaning unto our own understanding. God will do His work His way for His glory. Our joyful privilege is to trust Him to teach us His ways in prayer, so that His purposes will be fulfilled.
What If God
Scripture tells us that the thoughts and ways of God are above those of men, even as high as the heavens are above the earth. So, how do we pray? Do we defer to Him, to trust Him to guide us, leading us according the Scriptures and by the Spirit? True prayer is giving God access to all, that He should reveal to us His thoughts, so that we can pray according to His will.
The Greatness Of Christ's Salvation
How great is God? The answer to that question answers another one: How great is the salvation of God in Christ? There is no doubt that it exceeds all that we could ask or think. It is as we worshipfully study the word of God that we shall be able to have a glimpse of the enormity of this salvation, but also, how we are to trust God for it to be revealed in us, that the world may know Him, and love Him.
The God Of Restoratio n And Revival
Where does spiritual refreshment, revival, and restoration come from? Did David not make it so very clear that that the Lord "...restoreth my soul?" And did not the Psalmists of old cry unto God to revive us again? The authority and power to humble ourselves under the mighty hand of God, there to trust Him fully, is the key to receiving the blessing of HIs intervention to restore and to revive.
