In Wrath Remember Mercy
God in Christ is the perfect standard of that which is right. No concept of men can come close to this "rightness," as it is perfect in essence and application. It is only as it becomes the gift of God to men who turn to God from their unrighteousness, that God's eternal life is known.
Christ's Servant
What is it about Christ as the perfect servant that reveals to us what we are to be, and how we are to live? Certainly we see His lowliness and humility, willing to reach down to the lowliest of men. But there is in Him the revelation of one who came to minister, not to be ministered to. He did this because he was faithful to His father in all things, the Father committing to Him all that was necessary to accomplish His will.
Truth Not Mine Until It Becomes Me
God has intended by virtue of the Spirit of God in the heart of the believer, to reveal what is true of Himself. Though the expression of His life is limited by our unbelief, yet, He is at work in us to will and to do of His good pleasure, revealing the fruits of His blessed life, more and more. It is by His Spirit that we are conformed to the image of Christ.
The Clean Slate
Is it possible to have a clean slate before God? Is it possible to know the thorough cleansing from sin by the blood of Christ? The "multiplied new beginnings" that the Lord offers us begins with a clean slate, where He intervenes to forgive, cleanse, deliver, and strengthen to go on, forward, and upward.
So Great Salvation
How is the salvation of man by Christ so great? It is great because of the magnitude, extent, and longevity of it. It is eternal, as the Lord is eternal. Its dimensions cannot be fathomed, nor the worth of every aspect of it. The salvation that God gives is as holy and good, powerful and just, as the Lord Himself, for it is the reflection, and manifestation, of His glory.
Ordinary Men, Extraordinary God
It was said of John the Baptist that, among those born of women, there was not one greater than him. Why? When John was a babe in the womb of his mother, he was filled with the Holy Spirit. It was God the Holy Spirit that made him great.
Into The Holiest Of All
What does it mean to enter into the Holiest of All? What does God desire and will that we understand by this picture of the Tabernacle, and later, the Temple, where only one person, once a year was permitted to go? The answer lies in a veil of separation that was torn in to, to allow you and me to enter into His presence in a very real, and profound way.
Approaching God With Certainty
Is it possible to be certain to approach God? What does this mean, and where does the assurance come from to know that we are in His presence? The answer lies in the revealed way of God, by Christ, and His precious blood, coming to God, trusting in the Spirit of God. God gives His peace and assurance by the Spirit to the one who comes His way, for His glory.
The Promise Of Fulness
When Christ died on Calvary, and rose again, He did so with His whole being. When the Father gave the Son to be the sacrifice for man's sin, that man could be saved, He did so with His whole heart. When God placed the believer in Christ for time and eternity, He did so with no reserves, wholly blessing the believer. Is it not His will that His child should be filled with His Spirit?
The Certainty Of Knowing God
Is it possible to be certain about knowing God? Can one explain how it can be, and how a mere human being, in addition, a sinner, could know the One Holy God? There are sixty-six books in the Bible, and they all point in the direction of God, or His working. In that book is revealed in stark clarity that man was not only created to know God, but that he can know Him is he will come God's way, by Christ.
